PIXELBIRDS
Pixelbirds is collaboration between visual artists
Silvana Catazine (Brazil), Alex Zitzmann (Germany)
and Julia Berktold (Germany). Starting out with a midsummer
night performance at a beach near Barcelona in
2005, Pixelbirds are now concentrating on public
interferences in an audiovisual form in several spaces
in and around Barcelona.
Silvana Catazine
Born 1974 in Olinda, Brazil. Degree in Graphic Design at Universidade Federal de Pernambuco, Brazil. Since then she’s been working as an art director in studios in Sao Paulo, Lisbon and Barcelona. Barcelona Visual Sound public price for the best video with “Margarita, una historia”.
Camelarte 2003 with “Las estaciones” was in the final selection.
The short film “Una primavera soñé que volaba” has been selected for OFFF 2004 (Festival Internacional de Arte Digital y Música Electrónica) and VAD 2004 – Festival Internacional de Video y Artes Digitales de Girona.
BAC (Barcelona Arte Contemporáneo) 2004 selected her short film “La piel tiene memoria”.
Laus 2003 and Premio Mobius nominated her for the best application of multimedia
She has realized a variety of live visual projects all around Europe, amongst other in the ongoing collaboration with “Organic Audio”, with a debut at Benicassim Festival.
Alex Zitzmann
Born 1975 in Germany. Completed BA in Graphic Design at Bristol's UWE School of Art, Media and Design, UK. Studies of Fine Arts and American Culture at Dresden University, Germany. Studies of Spanish and Italian Linguistics, history of art at Leipzig University, Germany. Since then she's been working as a graphic designer in studios in Berlin and Barcelona, and on several freelance projects. She's been working on various audiovisual projects.

"Shelter" multimedia installation at Bower Ashton, Bristol, UK Her Animation "Como Pollos" was finalist in the Punt Multimedia Competition. "Grün auf Krach" audiovisual live performance at Le Freak Studios, Barcelona. "Water" was pre-selected for the Student's competition of the Royal Society of Arts, UK. Participation at collective exhibition Spurenufer, Dresden with Dort oben hoch wo Morgenrot. Colaborating with musicians, architects, a dance company and other filmmakers, she performs live visuals in various locations and investigates interactivity in live performances.
