Parallel zu seinem Studium der Betriebswirtschaftslehre war der aus Mainz stammende Christoph Schödel bei diversen Fernsehproduktionsfirmen beschäftigt und entdeckte so sein Interesse für Videotechnik. Seit 1998 ist er als freier Mitarbeiter im Bereich Videotechnik am Staatstheater Mainz tätig, wo er u. a. auch am Aufbau einer Videoabteilung beteiligt ist. Darüber hinaus arbeitete er mit zahlreichen Regisseuren in den Bereichen Oper und Schauspiel, darunter am Staatstheater Mainz mit Gottfried Pilz („Peter Grimes“), Irmgard Lange („Die Dreigroschenoper“, „Medea“), Matthias Fontheim („Onkel Wanja“, „Der Rosenkavalier“, „Aufstieg und Fall der Stadt Mahagonny“), Arila Siegert („La Giuditta“ von Alessandro Scarlatti) und Ulrich Greb („Die Möwe“, „Hedda Gabler“). Für Georges Delnon entstanden umfangreiche Videokreationen für Mark Andrés Uraufführung „...22,13...“ bei der Münchener Biennale und dem Festival d’Automne à Paris, für „Don Giovanni“ am Staatstheater Mainz und „Drei Frauen“ von Wolfgang Rihm für das Theater Basel. Für den Choreographen Martin Schläpfer schuf Christoph Schödel in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Bühnenbilder Keso Dekker die Videos für das Ballett „Tanzsuite“.
Parallel to his studies of business economics Mainz-born Christoph Schödel was involved in various television production ventures and thereby developed his interest in video techniques. Since 1998 he has been under freelance contract to the State Theatre in Mainz in the field of video technique, part of his task being to instal a video department. In his function he has worked with numerous directors in the genres of opera and plays at the Staatstheater Mainz, including Gottfried Pilz (“Peter Grimes”), Irmgard Lange (“Die Dreigroschenoper”, “Medea”), Matthias Fontheim (“Uncle Vanya”, “Der Rosenkavalier”, “Aufstieg und Fall der Stadt Mahagonny”), Arila Siegert (“La Giuditta” by Alessandro Scarlatti) and Ulrich Greb (“The Seagull” and “Hedda Gabler”). For Georges Delnon he supplied extensive video creations for the world première of “...22,13...” by Mark André at the München Biennale and the Festival d’Automne à Paris, for “Don Giovanni” at the Staatstheater in Mainz and for “Drei Frauen” by Wolfgang Rihm at the Basel theatre. For choreographer Martin Schläpfer Christoph Schödel collaborated with scenic designer Keso Dekker on the video for the ballet “Tanzsuite”.
