Dieses 2-tägige Festival widmet sich ganz der Solo Improvisation.

Die Künstler*innen auf diesem Festival sind keine bloßen Interpret*innen bestehender Werke. Sie sind Schöpfer*innen, die in der vollen Freiheit ihrer eigenen Improvisationen agieren.
Mit ihren Instrumenten, ihrer Stimme, oder ganz allein mit dem, was sie tun können, erfinden sie die Musik im Moment. Es gibt keine festen Melodien, keine traditionellen Formen, keine Vorgaben – nur das hier und jetzt, die rohe, ungeschliffene Kreativität.

Maria Isolina Cozzani (*1994) ist eine deutsch-italienische Violinistin, Komponistin und Multimediakünstlerin mit Sitz in Köln. Ihre musikalische Sprache bewegt sich souverän zwischen Klassik, Jazz, zeitgenössischer Musik und freier Improvisation – eine Bandbreite, die sie in Orchestern, Kammermusikensembles und interdisziplinären Projekten quer durch Europa unter Beweis stellt. Cozzani absolvierte ihren Master of Music an der renommierten ArtEZ Hochschule für Künste, wo sie die Verbindung von Klang, Raum, Bild und Licht als kompositorisches Prinzip entwickelte. Ihr künstlerisches Schaffen verbindet Musik konsequent mit visuellen und performativen Elementen.

Victor „Big Breezy“ Fox (*2000, Seligenstadt) zählt zu den bemerkenswertesten Jazztalenten seiner Generation. Seit seinem neunten Lebensjahr spielt er Saxophon, von 2016 bis 2018 war er Mitglied des Bundesjazzorchesters als Erster Tenorsaxophonist – laut Offenbach Post der mit Abstand jüngste Musiker seit Gründung der Formation.
Internationale Tourneen führten ihn in Länder wie die USA, Ecuador, China, Indien und England, wo er auf der Bühne u.a. mit Dee Dee Bridgewater, Branford Marsalis, Evan Parker und Peter Brötzmann zusammentraf.
Heute lebt und arbeitet er als Saxophonist, Bassklarinettist, Komponist und Improvisator in Köln, und bewegt sich souverän zwischen Jazz, Improvisation und Avantgarde.

Julia Sanjurjo wurde in Mar del Plata, Argentinien, geboren und ist eine vielseitige Sängerin, Komponistin und Arrangeurin, deren künstlerisches Schaffen sich an der Schnittstelle von zeitgenössischer Musik, Jazz und improvisierter Musik bewegt. Sie schloss ihr Kompositionsstudium an der Nationalen Universität in Argentinien ab und absolvierte anschließend ein Masterstudium in Jazz-Komposition und Arrangement an der Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln.
Als Komponistin und Arrangeurin arbeitete sie mit renommierten Ensembles zusammen, darunter das Nationale Orchester für Argentinische Musik und das Akademische Orchester des Teatro Colón. Als Solistin kollaborierte sie mit Musikerpersönlichkeiten wie Heiner Goebbels und Joëlle Léandre und trat zuletzt am IRCAM – Centre Pompidou in Paris auf.
Sie war Stipendiatin des Nationalen Fonds für die Künste (2015, 2017, 2020) sowie des Mozarteums Argentinien (2022) und lebt heute in Köln.

Robert Landfermann zählt zu den markantesten Stimmen des zeitgenössischen europäischen Jazz. Der 1982 in Oberwinter geborene Kontrabassist und Komponist studierte bei Dieter Manderscheid an der Musikhochschule Köln und arbeitete mit Musikern wie John Scofield, Lee Konitz, Joachim Kühn, Tomasz Stanko und Chris Potter. Konzerttouren führten ihn durch über 50 Länder auf allen Kontinenten. Als Mitbegründer des einflussreichen Kölner Jazzkollektivs KLAENG und langjähriges Mitglied des Pablo Held Trios hat er sich als zentrale Figur der Kölner Jazzszene etabliert. 2022 wurde er mit dem Deutschen Jazzpreis in der Kategorie Bass (national) ausgezeichnet. Mit seinem Quintett und zahlreichen Eigenprojekten – darunter die Alben Night Will Fall, Brief und zuletzt Rhenus – verbindet Landfermann kompositorische Präzision mit leidenschaftlicher Improvisationskunst.

This two-day festival is dedicated entirely to solo improvisation.

The artists at this festival are not mere interpreters of existing works. They are creators who act in the complete freedom of their own improvisations.
With their instruments, their voices, or simply with what they can do, they invent music in the moment. There are no fixed melodies, no traditional forms, no guidelines—just the here and now, raw, unpolished creativity.

Maria Isolina Cozzani (born 1994) is a German-Italian violinist, composer, and multimedia artist based in Cologne. Her musical language moves confidently between classical, jazz, contemporary music, and free improvisation—a range she demonstrates in orchestras, chamber music ensembles, and interdisciplinary projects across Europe. Cozzani completed her Master of Music at the renowned ArtEZ University of the Arts, where she developed the connection between sound, space, image, and light as a compositional principle. Her artistic work consistently combines music with visual and performative elements.

Victor “Big Breezy” Fox (born 2000, Seligenstadt) is one of the most remarkable jazz talents of his generation. He has been playing the saxophone since the age of nine and was a member of the German National Youth Jazz Orchestra as first tenor saxophonist from 2016 to 2018 – according to the Offenbach Post, by far the youngest musician since the orchestra was founded.
International tours have taken him to countries such as the USA, Ecuador, China, India, and England, where he has shared the stage with Dee Dee Bridgewater, Branford Marsalis, Evan Parker, and Peter Brötzmann, among others.
Today, he lives and works as a saxophonist, bass clarinetist, composer, and improviser in Cologne, moving confidently between jazz, improvisation, and avant-garde.
