“Take me to Space” is Jorik Bergman’s newest project, and a bold attempt to musically leave
earth and travel out of orbit. And together, they will go on an extraterrestrial journey, mixing Jorik’s acoustic sound on the flute with a very electric, groove-based rhythm-section. For this concert she has composed an entirely new program of music, documenting her yearning, and very human desire to leave the here-and-now and escape to a faraway vastness of nothing.
The program is inspired by (afro)futurism, by sci-fi movies like Star Wars and 2001: A Space
Odyssey, and of course by real life space travel. With “Take me to Space” Jorik has brewed a hybrid of floating poly-chords, trippy odd-meters, minimalistic space explorations and much
more, resulting in a sound that takes you out of this world.
