inEvitable ist ein musikalisches Projekt der aus Griechenland stammenden und in Berlin lebenden Künstlerin Evi Filippou. Im Mittelpunkt steht das Experimentieren mit Formen der griechischen Folklore, des Jazz und der Improvisationsmusik.

Die Perkussionistin und Songwriterin folgt ihrem Bedürfnis nach Selbstausdruck auf dem Weg der musikalischen Erforschung ihrer Hörwurzeln zurück zum folkloristischen Erbe ihres Heimatlandes – mit Melodien, die zwischen zeitlosen, traditionellen Melodien, der modernen Singer-Songwriter- Tradition und den Volksliedern der 60er und 70er-Jahre liegen. Gleichzeitig hat sich diese zutiefst endemische Auseinandersetzung mit ihrem Weg durch die zeitgenössische und Improvisationsszene Berlins vermischt.
Das Album inEvitable wurde 2023 mit dem Deutschen Jazzpreis in der Kategorie Debütalbum des Jahres ausgezeichnet.

Wurzeln wachsen in die Erde – nicht in die Herkunft.
Mitunter sind es gerade die stärksten Wurzeln,
die sich nach innen richten.
Und doch führt der Weg unweigerlich durch das Dickicht der Verwirrung.

Ein tröstlicher Gedanke mag sein:
Wir sind Schicht um Schicht gewoben –
aus Erlebnissen, Begegnungen, Verlusten, Bedauern.
Wie eine Collage,
ein Mosaik verschiedenster Formen,
das etwas Neues, Ganzes entstehen lässt.

Ich glaube nicht an ein Ende im eigentlichen Sinn.
Aber wenn es eines gäbe,
dann vielleicht dies:
Ich habe ein Zuhause in mir selbst gefunden.

inEvitable is a musical project by Greek-born, Berlin-based artist Evi Filippou. It focuses on experimenting with forms of Greek folklore, jazz, and improvisational music.
The percussionist and songwriter follows her need for self-expression on a journey of musical exploration of her auditory roots back to the folkloric heritage of her homeland—with melodies that lie between timeless, traditional melodies, the modern singer-songwriter tradition, and the folk songs of the 60s and 70s. At the same time, this deeply endemic exploration has blended with her journey through Berlin’s contemporary and improvisational scene.
In 2023, the album inEvitable was awarded the German Jazz Prize in the category Debut Album of the Year.

Roots grow into the earth; they don’t grow into the race.
Sometimes even, the strongest roots
are the ones that grow inwards.
Yet it’s inevitable to land into confusion.

A liberating thought could be
that we are all composed by
layers of experiences, connections and regrets.
Like a collage;
a combination of different forms,
creating a new whole.

I don’t really believe in conclusions,
but if there was one,
inevitably it would be,
that I found a home in me.

The concerts at the LOFT will generally start at around 8.00 pm CET - the LOFT will open at 7.30 pm CET.
Exceptions - eg on Sundays - are possible, but this concert will also start round 8.00 pm CET.
