Seit einigen Jahren beschäftigt sich die in Köln beheimatete Jazzsaxophonistin Christine Corvisier intensiv mit dem Thema Chansons. Davon ausgehend hat sie eine neuartige Klangsprache entwickelt und einen musikalischen Brückenschlag aus dem kulturellen Erbe Frankreichs (ihrem Herkunftsland), Deutschlands (ihrem Lebensmittelpunkt) sowie der USA (Wiege und Speerspitze des Jazz) gewagt. Die Melodien der Chansons sind meist wohlbekannt, auch in Deutschland (Charles Aznavour, Edith Piaf… ). Umso mehr verspricht eine Neuinterpretation, zudem ohne Text, weitere Bedeutungsebenen freizulegen und auszuleuchten. So entspricht die daraus entstehende Musik ihrer eigenen Identität: einer Mischung aus Kulturen, in der verschiedene Einflüsse gleichberechtigt koexistieren, sich kontrastieren, in Wechselwirkung treten.
