Mit dem charismatischen Indie-Folk-Künstler Sam Amidon und der lettischen Flötistin Ketija Ringa Karahona präsentiert Pablo Held gleich zwei faszinierend neue Klangfarben in seiner Reihe. Amidons Mixtur aus Folk, Bluegrass und Gospel, Shape-Note-Wurzeln und Appalachen-Balladen ist ein einzigartiges Sound-Gewebe. Ketija Ringa Karahona, ansässig in Amsterdam, wurde für ihre Arbeit mit dem renommierten Jong Metropole Orchester der „Eye Award“ verliehen und von der Jury für ihr wunderschönes, entspanntes Timing gelobt.

Gemeinsam schlagen sie die Brücke von ihrer persönlichen Interpretation zur jazznahen Improvisation – herausgefordert und unterstützt durch weitere virtuose Musiker, die sich ebenfalls nicht geringe Meriten als musikalische Brückenbauer verdient haben. „Saxophone Colossus“ Niels Klein würzt sein markantes Spiel durch diverse Effects, Notwist-Mitglied Andi Haberl ist ohnehin ein ausgewiesener Spezialist diverser Stile, frei von allen Berührungsängsten wie auch David Helm, der nicht nur Kölner Jazzpreisträger ist, sondern auch melancholisch-feinfühliger Indie-Pop-Rock-Interpret.

With the charismatic indie folk artist Sam Amidon and the Latvian flutist Ketija Ringa Karahona, Pablo Held presents two fascinating new timbres in his series. Amidon’s mixture of folk, bluegrass and gospel, shape-note roots and Appalachian ballads is a unique fabric of sound. Ketija Ringa Karahona, based in Amsterdam, was awarded the „Eye Award“ for her work with the renowned Jong Metropole Orchestra and praised by the jury for her beautiful, relaxed timing.

Together they bridge the gap from their personal interpretation to jazz-like improvisation – challenged and supported by other virtuoso musicians who have also earned no small merit as musical bridge builders. „Saxophone Colossus“ Niels Klein spices up his striking playing with various effects, Notwist member Andi Haberl is a proven specialist in various styles anyway, free of any fear of contact, as is David Helm, who is not only a Cologne Jazz Prize winner, but also a melancholic, sensitive indie pop rock interpreter.
