The voice too perfect, the humor too smooth, the gaze too vacant – let’s be honest: the last time you chatted with ChatGPT or saw a video of the Tesla Bots, didn’t you also feel this echo of human emotion? A small flicker of connection. And in the next moment a wave of disgust or distrust. How does it feel when something has memorized what it means to be human? The boundaries between the human and the machine, between the animate and the inanimate are increasingly dissolving – no longer are they only to be found in the narratives of science fiction. The project “Post-Bodies” explores these in-between spaces of the Uncanny Valley and the liminal zone in which perceptions shift and certainties dissolve. Acoustic instruments meet modular synthesizers, sensors and interactive music systems. Composition and improvisation intertwine with performative elements, creating a multi-layered space, in which the ensemble addresses the discomfort with the almost-human and the uncertainty we face when we can no longer clearly define.
