Lichtblickspiegel is back because it delighted so many people during UTOPIE 1. Its function remains unchanged, but its appearance is completely new. As before, it invites visitors to play, not only to look at their “reflection,” but to transform it. What is new this time are the thematic focuses. The AI interprets the live camera image along terms such as “friendship,” “peace,” and “touch.” It uses these to create poetic, pulsating visualizations that oscillate between reality and imagination.

Lichtblickspiegel once again invites playful thinking about the future, this time with a special focus on forces that connect, strengthen, or comfort. And it asks the question again: If even a machine can create images of hope, why can't we?

The art installations on display at the Theater an der Ruhr can be viewed daily from February 20 to March 29, starting when the theater opens. read less
