The physicist Möbius has taken refuge in an insane asylum in order to keep his discoveries, which are dangerous for mankind, secret from the world. But he is not the only one whose madness has method. Two of his fellow inmates turn out to be secret agents of hostile powers, and the head of the asylum is the only real madwoman striving for world domination. Dürrenmatt's shrill crime comedy describes a world in which everyone believes they can manipulate and control everyone else, a world of surveillance and dissimulation.
With the production of this "classic", the Theater an der Ruhr continues its ongoing collaboration with director Jo Fabian. Fabian has recently proven with his award-winning production of "Wilhelm Tell" (Best Youth Production NRW 2015) that he can also make contemporary, sensual theater for young audiences out of seemingly outdated material.
