Dear music lovers,
We wish you a happy New Year! As we celebrate the start of the year visually with the colourful works of Berlin artist Axel Bunt with his exhibition Zukkajöre, we can also enjoy the equally diverse sounds of Spanish pianist Álvaro Fernández-Bravo Casado, who will be presenting a collection of works by F. Schubert, F.J. Haydn, L. Boulanger, C. Debussy and I. Albéniz.
Born in Madrid in June 2002, the pianist began piano lessons at an early age and graduated with honours from renowned institutions such as the Centro Integrado de Música Padre Antonio Soler, the Katarina Gurska University in Madrid and the Barenboim-Said Academy in Seville. He is currently studying for his master’s degree with Sheila Arnold at the Cologne University of Music and Dance and also receives lessons from Alexander Melnikov, Michael Borgstede and Sergio Gasparella.
His concert activities are extensive: he has performed both solo and in chamber music ensembles at major venues in Spain, Poland and Germany, including the Auditorio Nacional de Madrid, the Palacio de Cibeles and the Szamotuly Cello Festival. With his trio “Kogan” and the trio “Ad Artem”, he has played at festivals, won prizes and been a guest on RNE, the Spanish classical radio station.
In 2024, he won second prize at the El Primer Palau competition and made his debut at the Palau de la Música in Barcelona. A performance at the Emergents Festival in Barcelona is planned for February. He also won awards at national and international competitions in 2023 and 2024 and has performed several times as a soloist with orchestras, including works by Ravel and Shostakovich. He has received the CSKG scholarship from the Katarina Gurska Foundation three times.
