SONiC iSLAND is an interdisciplinary series of events that brings electronic music, audiovisual performance and performative experiments to the Theater an der Ruhr. The aim is to create a temporary experiential space that combines electronic club culture, digital art and a theatrical context - an archipelago on the outskirts of the city, a luminous resonating body between rhythm and reflection.

CYLVESTER is the artist duo Max Schweder and Dr Tobias Hartmann. Together they develop audiovisual digital art at the limits of what is technically feasible - interactive installations, performances and cross-media works that use current technologies to open up new aesthetic spaces of experience. Their works have been shown many times in international art and festivals and are characterised by an experimental approach to sound, image and interaction. With wishing:well, they have created an AI installation in which visitors can choose how they want to see themselves. Their own silhouette becomes the input for abstract real-time visualisations generated by a multi-level AI system. This creates an immersive digital art experience between control, chance and co-creation with the machine.

CYLVESTER combines Swede's experience as a musician, performer and creative coder with Hartmann's expertise in generative sound art and interactive systems. Their signature style is characterised by artistic curiosity, technical finesse and the aspiration to create sensually accessible yet profound works. Her works invite us not only to utilise technology, but also to question and rethink it artistically.
